SensiLens
IOT-Enabled Smart Assistive Eyewear with Realtime Obstacle Detection
About this project
SensiLens is an IoT-enabled smart assistive eyewear project designed to improve independent mobility and environmental awareness for visually impaired users. It uses Edge AI, real-time computer vision, a Raspberry Pi Zero W, and lightweight models like YOLOv8 and MobileNet SSD to detect objects and obstacles locally without depending on cloud connectivity.
The system captures surroundings through a front-facing camera and converts the processed visual data into audio feedback and scene narration. Its main goals are real-time offline obstacle detection, object recognition, voice-based interaction, and a portable battery-powered wearable design. The project also leaves scope for future features like GPS navigation and cloud-based emergency alerts.
